San Bernardino, Calif. – Is your team getting ready for the upcoming 2010 desert racing season? The Baja Cup Challenge Off-Road Race on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at Glen Helen Raceway is perfect for testing and race vehicle shakedown. The Baja Cup Challenge is an off-road race designed for desert-style trucks and buggies on a 4.5 mile natural and man-made race track in the Inland Empire.
The two-hour Kar Tek Pre-Run and the new race format will be key elements. The truck and buggy classes will race for one hour, have an hour break and then return to the race track for one more hour of competition. “The new format will provide teams a perfect testing opportunity, a chance to work on the race vehicles and the ability to switch drivers/co-drivers during the break”, states Bud Feldkamp, Glen Helen Raceway President. He continues, “Teams can utilize the Baja Cup for real race testing and have a chance to win the event purse with a very affordable entry fee.”
The entry fee is $300 for trucks and buggies with 66 percent payback for the purse. The entry fee for UTV’s and Trophy Kart classes will be $50.
Glen Helen Raceway gates open at 6am for move-in and set-up on Saturday, Jan. 9th. The Kar Tek Off Road Pre-Run is from 7am-9am, open to all vehicles to view the race course. Racing action will begin at 10am as the truck and buggy “Challengers” thunder on the race course, followed by Trophy Karts and the UTV race.
