WORCS Round #1- Surprise, Az
Bakersfield, Ca: 2/3/10: Bobby Bonds made his way to Phoenix this past weekend to take part in Round #1 of the 2010 WORCS Racing series. High expectations were the goal for Bonds as he took his Maxxis/NTS privateer mounted Kawasaki over the state border to conquer the first of 10 rounds for the 2010 WORCS Championship. Bonds came out strong Sunday as his average mid pack start would soon find him climbing through the top 5 at the beginning of the race. Thats when the problem began that no one foresaw coming. Bonds was finishing the second half of lap 4 when the Kawi came to a sputtering stop.
“We tried a new fuel set-up this weekend and came up short which was disappointing to say the least. We had our mapping off on the fuel management device that I have been testing that I ‘m really happy with. We have made some changes and our currently testing it and will be dialed in for Round #2 for sure. This is all part of racing and no one is to blame here rather than we will make improvements and be back stronger than ever come February in Primm, Nv.”, said Bonds Monday morning.
Bonds was able to push the bike back in, grab a full tank, re-enter where he came off and rode to 23rd finish on the day.
“I spoke to Bonds Sunday after the race and he informed us that the track was so so rough by the time he got back into the race,that it was his decision to ride smart and save his hands for San Diego Supercross this upcoming weekend. WORCS tracks tend to rough up bad and this weekend was just that case. I think he made a smart decision to ride steady and not blister for his busy schedule over the next two weeks.” Jason Reed of JR Publications
Bonds will make his way to San Diego this weekend and on to Anaheim the following for Rounds 4 & 5 of the Monster Energy Supercross series. Bonds will pilot his Maxxis/R&D Motorsports’ Kawasaki under the Decal Works rig for the next two weekends and then back to Stateline, Nv at Buffalo Bills Casino for Round #2 of the WORCS series on Feb. 28th.
