HUSQVARNA ENDURO EFFORT REWARDED

Kearney In Contention At GNCC & Meo Wins World Round

April 16, 2010 – Woodcliff Lake, NJ – Husqvarna’s worldwide enduro racing effort is off to a great start as Team Husqvarna’s AMA woods specialist Glenn Kearney was back in action at Round #4 of the Grand National Cross Country series while Antoine Meo was busy winning the opening round of the FIM Maxxis Enduro World Championship in Spain.

“It was surprisingly hot and dusty,” said Kearney after the Pirelli Big Buck GNCC held near Union, South Carolina. “Once we got into the trees, the moisture helped keep the dust down, but I was still trying to catch up from the congested start.” And catch up he did as Glenn turned in his best finish of the year running as high as the top three for much of the three-hour endurance effort! When the dust finally settled, Kearney finished with a hard-fought fifth place.

“I had a decent day and the TXC 250’s combination of 4-stroke traction, fuel-injection and the electric start is brilliant. The bike is quite light, really fast and it turns easily… what more could you ask for in the tight woods?” The combination of Kearney’s natural talent and new Husqvarna has vaulted him into 6th overall in the GNCC X1 class season standings and into title contention.

Antoine Meo pilots his Husqvarna TE 250 to victory The same weekend that Glenn Kearney was challenging the GNCC competition, French enduro ace Antoine Meo was dominating a field of 105 of the best off-road riders in Europe. Following a flawless ride on day one through the five timed test sections, Meo seemed to have the dust, rocks and hidden log booby traps dialed-in cruising to a 25-second lead over fellow Frenchman Johnny Aubert. However a crash early on in day two saw Meo eating Aubert’s dust through the tough timed sections. Although he gashed his knee pretty good in the crash Meo kept pressuring Aubert before finally settling for second place.

As the Enduro World Championship series moves to Portugal, Meo is tied for the overall points standings lead and looking forward to taking a clear cut lead this weekend. “The dominance that Antoine has shown on the world stage, combined with Glenn Kearney’s excellent progress in the GNCC and American enduro events clearly demonstrates that Husqvarna is a force to reckoned with once again,” notes Husqvarna North America Race Team Director Scot Harden. “We have world class motorcycles, world class financing and world class results… the only question is why in the world aren’t you racing a Husqvarna?”
