Corona, Ca. (April 22, 2010) – Sunny skies and a packed house welcomed the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series back to Speedworld in Surprise, Arizona for rounds 3&4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. The weekend was marked with tight door to door racing action combined with the chaos and mayhem on the track that comes from full fields of mega-horsepowered offroad machines flying through the air competing for limited space on the tight and technical Arizona battlefield at Speedworld.
Series Director, Tony Vanillo expressed his enthusiasm after the just completed rounds of racing. “This weekend had it all. It’s exciting to watch these drivers take it to each other race after race. This track, with the moguls, huge jumps and fast sweepers is so exciting that it actually makes it tough for spectators to just focus on one area or position.” He continued. “These enormous
fields in all classes and tight racing for every position kept the crowds on their feet all day long. It was a great weekend and we’re excited to be gearing up for the next event in Las Vegas.”
Pro 4 Unlimited driver Rick Huseman took back to back wins in the Pro 4 Unlimited Class as the champion driver looks to make his mark in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. With these two victories, Huseman has taken the top spot in the marquis class of short course off road in three out of the first four rounds of racing. In Round 3, he held off a charging Kyle LeDuc who took second and Carl Renezeder who book ended his round 3 third place podium with a second place to Huseman in Sunday’s racing action.
Pro 2 Unlimited action featured a number of spectacular crashes and the fiberglass mashing combat for which the series has become known for, kept spectators on the edge of their seats throughout the entire weekend. Carl Renezeder earned his first Pro 2 Unlimited win of the season in Saturday’s round 3 race and the defending Pro 2 and Pro 4 season champion completed his weekend by taking a second place finish to Rob MacCachren’s win in Sunday’s round 4.
Brian Deegan’s third round win on Saturday in Pro Lite Unlimited competition put him in the winners circle for the first time in the young season. Returning to the form and consistency that earned him his 2009 class championship, Deegan came close to completing the weekend sweep in round 4, only falling to a late charge and aggressive pass by perennial contender Chris Brant in the final turn of the last lap.
As rivalries continue to brew and the championship race begins to take shape, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series looks towards it’s next stop at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 22nd and 23rd.
Catch the action from the series’ visit to Surprise, Arizona when the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series makes its debut on the CBS Sports Network on Saturday, May 8th at 5pm ET /2pm Pacific.
