This past weekend Gorman played host to the final round of the highly contested 2011 D37 AMA Big 6 GP series. The course was a mix of high speed 2 track, canyon single track and motocross terrain. Colton Udall and Timmy Weigand were on hand to race the open, 4 stroke and team race.
Timmy Weigand raced a Honda CRF450R and Colton Udall raced the JCR/Honda modified Honda CRF450X.Saturday, Colton Udall and Timmy Weigand went 1-2 in the open class. Saturday also featured the team race. Timmy started the race and the duo took the lead on lap 3 and never looked back taking the checkered flag in dominating fashion.
Sunday featured the 4 stroke race. Colton Udall went down twice and had to put in a “come from behind charge” if he was to take the win. He did exactly that and took the lead on the last lap to win the final race of the season.
“The Big 6 put on a great series in 2011. It felt awesome to sweep the final weekend and win a championship. Thanks to Timmy Weigand for coming out and racing the team race with me. I look forward to racing the Big 6 again in 2012” — Colton Udall
“Congratulations to Colton and the JCR/Honda team. We had an awesome year in the grand prix series and we are excited to come back and support the series again in 2012” — Johnny Campbell
