National Guard Coastal Yokley Racing Team rider Jarrod McClure finished 5th Overall and 5th in the XC1 Pro class today. There were 120 total entries including 13 XC1 Pro racers.
Summary: This GNCC was a make up race because the spring race was postponed due to flooding. The weather was perfect, nice and cool with sunny skies. The track was very rough since the motorcycle pros ran the course the day before. There were the typical rocks and whooped out sections, with parts of the famous Loretta Lynn’s National Motocross course utilized as well. The course crossed a fairly deep creek twice each lap.
The flag dropped and Jarrod battled with 9-time champ Bill Ballance for the holeshot. He ran with the top 4 throughout lap1. The creek crossings were deep, and at times the water was higher than the wheels and exhaust system. You had to be careful not to drown out the engine.
Jarrod ran in 5th position on laps 2 through 5, and did not have any problems. He did say that the track was the most physically demanding of any on the GNCC circuit. He finished the race in 5th, and in doing so he climbed up the season point standing to 6th in the XC1 Pro division.
Jarrod travels to California on Tuesday to race the last WORCS event this next weekend. The actual race is in Surprise, Arizona, and will be his final pro race of the 2011 season. Thanks to all our sponsors for the support and encouragement this year!
