WORLDS TOUGHEST RACE SERIES
GEICO ENDUROCROSS OPENER
Story and Photos By Winged Nut & Associates
Arguably, America’s best race action series got underway in the air-conditioned comfort of the Orleans Arena, located in America’s gambling mecca-Las Vegas. Of course, outside the temps hovered at around 112 degrees.
This made for some heated racing, where the riders were much cooler on the track, then they were outside in the scorching pits. The opening race saw defending Geico Endurocross champion, Red Bull/KTM rider Taddy Blazusiak, take the win ahead of multi-time Trials champ, Geoff Aaron, aboard his Christini backed KTM. Look for the battle between these two riders to heat up as the season heats up. Read the rest of this entry »

When it comes to freestyle motocross Justin Homan has one of the longest running careers of all time. A true OG, Justin has been around since the early days and helped found the sport with the likes of Brian Deegan and Mike Metzger. Though he’s competed all over the globe and has the medals to prove it, Justin’s approach to this sport, and life in general, is much different than that of his fellow FMX riders.
Justin left the dirtbike scene in the early 90’s to attend college at the University of Washington, Seattle School of Business. His reentry into the sport came some time later after accepting an invitation to watch a fellow mountain bike friend race at a local motocross track. From there Justin made a second attempt at Read the rest of this entry »

“Black Hawk Customs started back in 2003. The idea was to jump into the industry for fun, build or customize some bikes, and go after a contract with the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES),” explains James Campbell, veteran and CEO of Black Hawk Customs.
“Well, the fun burnt off for some of it, we stopped building and customizing bikes, but we found our niche – supporting the safety and morale of our military service members through AAFES worldwide. Being that each of us are all prior military, Read the rest of this entry »

2010 Griffin King of the Hammers – Story and Photos by Bryan Grey [www.wheel-travel.com]
The King of the Hammers in it’s short 4 year life has become the pinnacle event in rock sports. It is the marriage of two unlikely spouses, the technical and precise sport of rock crawling and the wide open high speed sport of desert racing. This single race has turned the offroad industry upside down forcing manufacturers to get on the bus or get run over by it. I mean, who would have thought that you’d see rock crawlers with triple bypass shocks? Read the rest of this entry »

Round #2 of the WORCS Bike Series was at the same location at the same time on a completely different track right next to the ATV track, with one small exception. The Bike and ATV during the Pro Race would be entering the Pro Pits on one end and exiting at the following end. Meaning the Quads and the Bikes were racing side by side on the same course for a short period of time.
Once the exited the pits the track rounted them back to the start finish line, through the timing chute and back onto their respective tracks. Unlike the ATV right next door the action up front was a bit spread out. The start of the race is a bit differnt as Read the rest of this entry »

The ATV racing at Round #2 of the WORCS series was some of the best racing that we have seen in a long time. The top 4 places were within 2 seconds of each other for most of the race. MCR’s Josh Row (#5) would get the early lead, but Beau Baron (#1) also of MCR would get around Row early on in the race. Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson (#94) would then battled with Row for several laps, eventually getting around Row and setting his sites on Baron. Meanwhile, Can/Am Motoworks Josh Frederick (#2) would hold the 4th spot, riding his own pace. About the 1hr 30min, mark Frederick would tur Read the rest of this entry »
